Anthony Tursich, CFA
Tony brings balance to the table—and not just because of his Y chromosome. His deep expertise in the institutional sector allows us to work beyond the individual or family, which makes our team better, stronger and more impactful. And, he has managed many other investment strategies with an emphasis on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors over the course of his career, which makes him a perfect fit for our core values.
Sustainability has always been core to his work. Tony came to realize its value early in his career through meeting with and learning from leading environmental scientists and non-profits. He strongly believes that responsible practices are key to long term success. Recognition of ESG risks and opportunities is necessary to comprehend the true potential and downside of an investment.
Tony has been managing investment portfolios for individuals and institutions for over 20 years. He created and launched the Portfolio 21 Global Equity Fund in 1999, which he co-managed through July of 2018 for Trillium Asset Management and Portfolio 21.
He studied business and economics in the U.S. and abroad. He has conducted research and due diligence on five continents to identify and analyze leading companies with strong, enduring financial returns and robust ESG characteristics. In the 1990s, his team created and vetted a set of investment criteria that remains in place today to evaluate a company’s ability and commitment to manage ecological risk and opportunities.
Tony is an Investment Advisory Board Member for Multnomah County and is a member of the CFA Society of Portland. He is also an adjunct instructor at Portland State University. In his free time he enjoys being with his wife and two children, playing tennis, skiing and visiting his big sky hometown of Bozeman, Montana.
